DAVID PRESTON

Australian Landscapes and Flowers
Paintings, Linocuts and Drawings

11th October - 13th November, 2003

Daffodils, Oil on Board, 122 x 91cm

David Preston paints the landscape because he can't escape it's presence. He is obsessed by its beauty. The challenge for him is to see the land objectively, yet to simultaneously render his subjective response to nature. It would seem an impossible task to be at once so clinical and yet so heartfelt in approach, he manages this balance gracefully and draws us into his privileged world of sensitivity and subtle tones.
