"The day awakens to the beautiful song of the birds; they pay homage to the sunrise and landscape around them. Signalling the course the day may take, they echo the mood of the sky the light and the exhilaration of summer showers. Birds are the builders of our environment, for without them we would not witness the glistening of the wattle, growth of the mighty eucalypt or the waving stems of the grasses in the breeze. We sometimes go on our way, not so much ignoring but just busying ourselves with mundane daily chores. I would like to take a moment to pay HOMAGE TO THE BIRDS ". - Patrick Shirvington

Nude Studies

"It is in his many studies of the nude that Boissevain's obsession with beauty finds its clearest expression", observes Art Historian Gavin Fry. This preoccupation with beauty is reflected in all of Boissevain's work, and his current exhibition encapsulates its essence through the uncomplicated and natural subject of human form.

With delicate line and soft colouring in oil wash and pastel, Boissevain situates the female nude in decorative and playful compositions. Each study captures the liveliness of his subject, the pensive mood of the studio, and presents a captivating portrait of the body in interior settings.

Beautiful models languidly posed in the studio are the subject for this well awaited exhibition. William Boissevain, a distinguished Western Australian artist, brings his subjects to life with sensuous line, colour and decoration.
